Some of us study & read reference books on helmets. I think it more than opinions camo helmets were painted "whilst on the conveyor belt" or similar methods.

You missed the point.....you should study paint and what people do when they're not doing anything whilst trying to stop being shot at!

Not everything is black and white and the OP has some valid points, enough to know he knows what happens to paint under duress.
The 'conveyor belt' being off the original production line not some backyard or acquired panel shop.
Point is they were painted over chips, scratches and all but here often they are red flags which is incorrect.

The paint around the rivet holes still kills it for me.

In looking at the top of the helmet, I still think I see green paint in the pitting but hard to tell from a photo.

Again, just my opinion. Don't have a crystal ball
Just an illustration of the build up of the "pin ring" through layers of paint.
None of my comments are meant to insult the experience of anyone, just an explanation of why I chose to buy it for a first hand look.

Actually Frank I think there is no family relationship with the paint of the subject helmet. Your example lost paint from physical wear. The OP's helmet is not clear what has caused the layers to peel off. Not a lot of abrasion areas other than the rusted patch on the dome.

Correct me if I'm wrong but does it have a circular hole in the crown/dome?
