this is my German Heer M40 helmet, it is found in Holland in the "big hole", that is why it has a crack in the afterpart. After the surrender, the dammeged the helmet by a piccle and put in to the ground.
I cleaned and restore this helmet. I put in org.liner, pines and stripe. They came off a M35, SE62, that one has no paint on the shell, but is from WW2, so i change liner and strip.
Nice relic Mark , i personaly would have left the shell as it was , but thats just me . Did you dig out the helmet from the hole , iv seen some pics from the big hole some awesome relics have come from there cheers Raymond
when i bought this helmet on a militairia market is was covert with dirt and "blister"rust. I removed the dirt and rust and cleaned the helmet with oil. Then the full green color appired. Then i putt in the liner, to make this M40 Heer helmet complete again.
