    It's quite far gone, but well done for wanting to save it. In the past I've left such helmets behind for others to pick up.

    Poor thing, it almost got back to nature ....... but still, a mighty effort to save what remained!!

    I have a similar M40 that is spending it's remaining days on a fence-post in my yard......

    because I like helmets, I was sorry that the helmet would fall apart completely, so I decided to save it

    Nice job.

    This is the exact condition type of helmet that I've been looking for to add as a shade on my Vet Art Lamp

    I applaud you for that! I would be the guy who saves all of the rust flakes because as an American... we don't find those too often.

    Great preservation of this relic, and showing that someone still cares about this one, is a great tribute to the original owner.
