Man, I love these helmets! You seem to find a lot of them. Are they a "common" find? I wouldn't think so, but I have to ask.
I'm looking for my first lid, and I'd love to find my own... but I'd be hard pressed to find one in Kentucky, lol!
They were common to find whern most of the ones shown were found and they are still out there in the ground but you have to dig much deeper now !!

Here is one of my favourites . This Helmet was found about 10 years ago on the positions of the 11 Kompanie SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment Danmark , elements of this Kompanie were cut off behind a Russian advance in late July 1944 and most of them were KIA / MIA.

Elements of the clip for a helmet cover or just the chinstrap mounting gone haywire mate? Must say this is one of the best out of all the ones posted hereHere is one of my favourites . Some clues there Harvey as you have mentioned that this lid originally had a Camo cover on it .
