Some sort of fire brigade lid!....
It's a Greek fire brigade helmet from 1975-1980 and is a complete one (the decorative on the top is ok).Priced in Greece (overestimated) about 150€.

Hmmm-bit of an age difference there!
Thanks guys. He has it lumped into some WW1 helmets he's offering so I was just confused.
Just to add some information...That "Decorative Mohawk Structure" is actually known as a Tile-Breaker/Tile Splitter...Europeans generally use ceramic roof tiles; When falling from a burning house, the tiles will be deflected from the Corpus of the helmet, and the man's skull stays protected from impact...
cheers, Glenn
Thanks Glenn , I have wondered about these .
You'll find similar combs on some police helmets. intended for the same sort of purpose but for more deliberate blows to be deflected.
Yes the idea of a helmet combs goes black to sword blows , the Romans changed their comb design when the faced an enemy with a forward swooping long sword , I've forgot who . Always thought it was ornamental hold over from that , but both answers make a lot of sense . Thanks guys , you learn something new every day .
