I have had this problem before. Some light tapping with a rubber mallet has worked for me.

try using a wooden Dowell ground down to a fine edge to pry with, it will not mar anything. just a thought?

Article about: This brodie is in quite a sad state! I bought it at a flea market last week for \\$1, just like this. I don't know why it was stripped of its paint, but I wasn't going to leave it either. It i
