Hello All I just lucked upon an Imperial degen with etched panels and the original bluing in the panels.Does anyone happen to know of a way to safely clean a blade without damaging the bluing. I know not to use the products that have abrasives but don't know what would be safe to use on the bluing.

    Regards,Geoff

Kroil oil and a Frontier metal cleaner scrub. Neither will hurt the bluing. Works very well.

    A Dremel?

    Sorry Geoff.....couldn't help myself.

And sorry, but I can't help. Maybe Larry can. But would love to see the piece?

Edit: John seems to have the answer already....

Wipe it with down Renaissance Wax, and then wipe the excess off.
Remember, a little goes a long way.

Here are a couple of quick uncleaned pics. Please don't smoke...its not healthy for swords either... the yellow coating on the basket is nicotine.

I believe this was a private purchase piece.

    A lovely sword Geoff!
There were a couple of similar ones for sale on WAF recently.
Try a little Ren Wax on a part of the blade without bluing and see if you like the results first.
