WW2 "Rupert" Parachute Dummy Replica.

Article about: I bought this "Rupert" replica, as I can't afford thousands of £\\$'s on a genuine example (if you can get one ). Quite basic in design, it's made of Hessian sack material and is ab

    Finally, he's been completed..

A pair of eyes, moustache and some airborne patches bring him to life.

A job and a half it was to do and I'm now happy to finally finish this project.

If I can "find" a original Rupert parachute for him in the future, that would be great, but.. it's finding one.

I really enjoyed doing this project, finding all things paradummy and how they were put together.

    Very interesting it was too

    So here he is:

    Commander Rupert Urquhart

    Paradummy (Retired).

    1st British Airborne Division

    Operation Titanic

    D-Day June 6 1944.

Well, I tried tying him to the clothes line in the back yard, and seeing if the chute would open??

It was quite gusty, but not bad

Erm, he ended up about 6ft in the air, taking the clothes line with him.

Luckily, he was tied down securely and I managed to get him back before he blew over somebody's roof.

It's going to be hard to get that picture of him flying..
