I could find a place for it in my collection.
As a beginner, I personally like it and think it's most likely a quite original SA. Rest assured that David and the others will provide good counsel Is it being advertised as SA or NSKK?
Best,
Adam
Thanks Kirby... just what I wanted to hear!! Cheers... Hansi
Hi Adam.. no it's just advertised as WW2... and still being unsure about SA buckles I thought that I would ask the experts... it looks okay to me but, of course, that doesn't mean much these days! Cheers.. Hansi
It's a nice buckle and I'm almost certain it's 100% original. What's it going for?
Hansi
In my opinion, no problems whatsoever with the SA buckle that you have shown.
The style of the eagle and swastika is well documented and the buckle is "normally" seen with a quite distinct style of "ears" to the box, together with a very pronounced dome to the pin.
Having said that, I have seen this design as both one and two piece, with varying types of boxes/catches and I even have an example with a steel plate affixed to the back of the box. All in all, a quite consistent design and yet inconsistent method of construction.
Attached is a close up of the detail to the eagle and swastika - which is consistent.
Regards,
David
I have always thought the body of the eagle was goofy looking on these buckles although they are overall very beautiful. Good find Hans. Very nice detail in yours huh david?
