SA Steel flat back

Picked up the top buckle recently. The buckle looks like a common SA but it is a rare SA steel back construction. These are the only two styles of this rarely seen buckle. The lower buckle is a little different. The brass curves around the steel plate. The lower buckle steel plate must be thicker. In hand the buckle is heavier than the top buckle.

Great find! Very nice and rare SA buckle. I remember Kenny found one a few years back. His has the same eagle and backside of your top buckle. Here is the interesting thread:

Glad you guys like it. I was surprised i got it at an auction with a mint steel CTD Police buckle, a GB RAD and very nice Reichwehr. I got all four for what I would have been bid for just the SA.
