Excellent SA buckles here and the brass one in particular, which seems to have a protective/decorative, so called "gilt" finish. They cost a little more than a standard "raw" brass SA buckle, however the finish was both attractive and prevented the brass from dulling and tarnishing. I think that the term of "gilt brass" in metallurgical parlance is wrong, however goodness knows what the finish was and really, who really cares.

A great design of eagle and I think that this roundel is normally associated with a dimple back box. It would appear though that the roundel was employed by more than one buckle manufacturer, as flat back boxes with this roundel are well documented.

I have never seen a roundel with this exact design of eagle, displaying a "sun wheel" swastika.

    Regards and best wishes,

    David
