    Hello AfterMath ....your example ticks all the correct boxes for this being an Aesculap Gr Rohm.
    The grip has lost all its heavy laquer seen with this producer..but I can still see that the grip is Aesculap.

    I also noticed you correctly placed back around the Gruppe mark to the reverse side as seen in your photos.
    A nice example in its current condition.
    The blade shows some age grey and moisture spots where the scabbard runners have say over the decades.

    I would not mind to have this one in my collection due to it not being as commonly seen such as Eickhorn and Ernst Pack.

    thanks Larry,
    yes as much as i dont like to mess with them, the crossguard around the wrong way needed to be corrected.

    Hello. Does this maker have a characteristic tang marking. No example from this maker is shown in my reference books. It is marked as a manufacturer but no details. Now I can fill out that lack.

    Aesculap and 14 other producers used unmarked blade tangs..which include some larger producer names as well.

    There are many forges in Germany during the TR period and also supplied to well known larger producers as well.
