Hi Mark ..there have been examples by other producers observed having these chromed guards...but I myself never encountered Aesculap having them.
One way to identify if so would be any internal crossguard markings.

I looked into my foundry mark resource and PA " Piel and Adey"..is a widely used generic crossguard used by many SA and also some SS producers.

So at the least ...the guards are correct to be found on an Aesculap dagger.

Aesculap produced early SA daggers only with nickel-silver crossguards. They never produced transitional or late RZM SA daggers.

Another question to ask is there a SA gruppe mark on the reverse side of the lower guard?

I've never seen or heard of a chrome plate crossguard on an Aesculap dagger, just nickel silver.

Group stamp on the crossguard must be either „Sw“ (Südwest) or „Wm“ (Westmark). SA daggers from Aesculap have been issued in these both groups only.
