I already commented on this but others are also welcome to Chime in with their thoughts and opinions.
With not seeing the blade on this NSKK Leader...overall out condition is bad. Looks like bad storage and too hard to determine authenticity ..due to not seeing certain chain markings on the reverse.
Scabbard has been repainted.
I can not comment further as this is all that I can see.

Most likely there are reasons why the marked links are in this state: most common reason: the markings are not genuine and would reveal the originality of the chain.
The NSKK musterschutz marking is faintly visible with remarkable thick N S letters.
Due to these very bad condition and faint visible marking no one can tell you its an original pre 1945 produced one.
I would not want a questionable dagger like this one in my collection.

I’m with Ger, it’s way too convenient that the proof marked links are corroded as they are. This is not a dagger I would feel comfortable owning.
They didn't distress it enough.... it's a fake chain.
