Good looking dagger.
Is the black colour in the letters on the blade the original filled-in colour?
(on my dagger, there are only the letters - all colour faded/worn away)
Yes some of the original colour remains, and thanks
Thanks for quick answer.
Wish mine had retained some colour in the letters.
Hope you get more info about your maker ASAP.
My dagger is marked EICKHORN.
I like it! Check out the McSarr list. mines 10 of 10 on the McSar list of rare early SA makers. You might be able to google it. I think that's how I found mine.

The first SA shown E.P.&S. as well as Eickhorn are the most often found SA daggers. Eickhorn was by far the most prolific dagger maker.

Very nice early Daggers guys.
Thank you Mark i thought that was the case.
While each dagger has to be looked at individually, I don’t think that it’s fading as much as whether or not the maker used a two step process specifically to darken the mottos. With traditional etching by itself varying from a lighter to a darker gray. FP
Interesting. There is what looks like a faint shadow to the letters on mine, so maybe that was simply how it always was/has been. Thanks for input.
