Finding Easy Company Aldbourne 2023.

For the last few days Operation Nightingale veterans have been working alongside Timeteam to locate and excavate the site of former huts of the 101st AB in the village of Aldbourne, England.


Easy Company hut;

Carwood Lipton recalled being here in 1944 prior to D day.

Fox Company hut;

Slightly different construction, the hut being raised on bricks as the ground was soft beneath.

Had a drink in the Blue Boar on the green. Saw this and thought the forum would find it interesting and amusing.



As we drank a coachload of American tourists arrived to do the village tour. Aldbourne has never forgotten their friends from across the water and the memory of their time here burns brightly still.
