Hi everyone I have had problems with my 250 lately , when i move it side to side it beeps at times although there is nothing there!

It never done this before, what could it be?

Plus I would like to know how far down does the 250 Ace actually pick up things?

    Regards...

Hey Jonnb-1 and welcome to the forum

Have a fiddle about with the sensitivity and the discrimination.

Easiest thing to do is get to a patch of 'clear' ground and bury a penny or something similar. Sweep your detector over the area and get used to its functionality....twiddle the nobs, try different settings. Dig the coin up and bury it deeper.....keep going until you don't detect it !

Obviously, the larger the item, the deeper it can be for your detector to pick it up.

And, as Stuka F says, make sure you're not wearing steel-tipped work boots or trousers with press studs on the hem

PS The detector may be going off because there is a large metal object deep down. I once spent 45 minutes digging a hole and getting more and more exasperated until, 3 foot down, I found what must have been a whole section of metal roadway.....the detector was working fine !

PPS Are the batteries new ? My detector goes 'wonky' and bleeps randomly when the batteries are getting low. You can also get this by using the wrong 'type' of battery.......make sure you follow the detectors guidance on the type to use (e.g. Duracell work fine, Ever-ready are hopeless).
