FWIW, I googled on very similar time period dagger with stamping of serial number which contains 1, and it seems to have the same characteristics. Also, the repeating "1" look very different, as if...

Finally received the dagger due to shipping delays. Since doubts were raised regarding the authenticity of the serial number stamped, I got it professionally evaluated from a very well known dealer...
Is $5750 I paid for this an approximate value going on currently? I have seen a few daggers with serial number go between 4500 - 6500 $ in WAM http://www.wwiidaggers.com/SSDAG.htm

Is it the maker?
Is it the owner?
Is it the condition?
Is it the model?
I assume all four matter, but am wondering about the factor they matter. Just curious.......

I still feel extremely lucky to win the bid to get this one, as there was heavy competition. I don't intend to be a big collector, but wanted to own at least one SS dagger - but a legit one.

No just happy to finally own/win a bid on a legit SS dagger. Ended much more expensive than the fake ones, but worth it. Thanks to you for pointing the fake ones I bought and managed to get a refund.
