Hi Doug, I like it and think this one stands a very good chance. Let's see what the specialists in these say.
Etched blades can be a bit of a nightmare.
Cheers, Ade.

Thank you Adrian. I know that these etchings are often faked and I have never personally owned one of held an original. So i am in the dark when it comes to what to look for.

Personally feel this piece's etch is period. Has good and proper depth in my opinion. Yes...Some Etchings are highly faked and done post war / 4th reich. I would say nice piece with a maker not seen too often.

Thanks Rossi! My friend will be very pleased! What are you looking for when it comes to these etchings?

Anyone else have any input on this blade? Seems like this etching may stand a chance from what Ade & Rossi said!

for a change I like this one.

I know etchings are always risky. I mainly look for the depth of etch and quality of workmanship. Also the motto or graphic shown in reference books. Eickhorn and a couple other makers have always to me been the hallmark or ones to look at for etch quality. I am no expert on the matter. I have a Eichkorn sword and 1 dress bayonet etched on my site. Over the years I have steered clear just due to many post war attempts.

I like this one as well...A Private-Purchase, "Generic", Reservist's Parting Gift...I've noticed the fake ones are usually the SS Divisions or other "Exotic" Units, and are overly embellished with Nazi Symbols...Along with the Quality-Issues that our friend Rossi mentions...
cheers, Glenn
