Hello,
you have a matching number S84/98 of the Navy. On the back is the typical Navy troop stamp. "O" stands for "Marinestation der Ostsee" (Naval Station of the Baltic Sea) in Kiel.
The other is the serial number that the manufacturer already put on it. That was stipulated by the orderer of the bayonets, the "Waffenamt" (Weapons Office).
You can see the condition yourself. Unfortunately, it is badly rusted and the blade is sharpened.

Hi sleepwalker,
thanx for the information! I appreciate!
Despite the rost, I think its a very nice bajonett from the Marine. Worthy to put in my collection.
It was part of a big convolute of 7 ww2 rifles and some russian bajonetts, which I’ve got for 300€. I think the bajonett itself should be 100-150€?!
Thanx for your research time!
Best regards
Daven
If I may add to Sleepwalkers reply...the producer Durkopp is not frequently encountered so you have IMO a rarity in a combat bayo.

I would think the blade was little shortened, how long is the blade from tip to crossguard.
Yes its probably 7-8mm shortened, normally the blade should 252-3mm. I would add a oil on the surface to stop the rusting process.KM marked matching piece is good, unfortunally the sharpening decreased the value here.
Hi AndyB,
thank you very much for the additional infromation regarding the dagger lenghts!
Yesterday I already added WD40 to both pieces. Today I will repeat the process, because the metal has absorbed the oil very fast.
Thanx and best regards
Daven
Hello,
the blade is definitely shortened. The blade tip no longer has its correct utility shape. Maybe it has something to do with the sharpening.
