A very clean German K-98 combat bayonet.
I'm sure the bayonet guys will fill in all the details.

As said above it's an honest Third Reich era combat bayonet but non matching, the bayonet it's self made by Elite Diamant and the scabbard by Ernst Pack & Sohne!....
there is 209 and b under it on the blade.
and there is on the handle 218 and somekind of wing markins 2 peaces.
The wing markings are waffenamt or ordnance inspection marks. Nice find.
The 218 with the "wings" is the Waffenamt code for Elite Diamantwerke. Its an inspectors mark. Its a shame that it is not matching , But still they are two collectible bayonet collector makes.
Its still a nice piece and the blade looks to be in great shape. Plus you have a frog for it.

Hi Kai..welcome to the forum...although as been said above..that the bayo is not matching but all still Third Reich period.
The mismatch could of happened during the heat of battle or recent ...but still all period original..your son did well and owns a piece of history.
