Greetings,
This is an original post WWI M 1884/98 German Bayonet for the 98 Kar. While these are reproduced this one isn't one of them. Finish looks gone and only real question to ask is do the numbers on the bayonet match the ones on the scabbard. Unless you just had to have it, I'd pass on it for a better conditioned one. That said, if you appreciate items that, "tell a story" or possess that, "been there done that look" then buy away. To me that's a nice way of saying (code) it was "affordable."
Regards,
Lance
well the seller thinks its ww2 and its only £53 no bids and thanks for the infomation
Is there a licence needed for one of these in the UK?
Edit Never mind the seller just withdrew it
There is no license needed for this in the UK, it looks like a decent one to me.
This was an ebay item described as a ww2 german letter opener, this vanished from the site with only a short time remaining.
i guess the seller realised what it is and it may appear later with an inflated price.
Firearms, weapons and knives policy
It might have been withdrawn because it's a prohibited item!....
the annoying thing is he sold a Japanese bayonet a few minutes after this one was either withdrawn or reported
Yeah well I will try to find another one for £50-£60
