Re: Heer dress bayonet.
Good original item. The red felt insert does not denote branch of service and is there for decoration. The high gloss "patent" leather frog is correct.
Price is OK. But the condition of the scabbard really hurts it. It should be gloss black painted finish.
Cheers, Ade.

I was under the impression that the coloured felt DID denote the arm of service
1. Armed forces in General = Red
2. Jager Formations = Green
3. Aviation troops = Golden Yellow
4. Aviation supervisory troops = Green
5. Aviation Comms troops = Brown
6. Flak formations = Red

Re: Heer dress bayonet.
John - you are right with the designation relative to the colors of the felt but as Ade stated it did not indicate Branch i.e. Cav,Infantry, Art, etc it indicated the particular formation that the owner belonged to i.e. Heer,Luftwaffe,Jager etc.
Hope this helps
