Help with Dress Bayonet ID

Good day gents went to a antique and collectibles show today and purchased this nice dress bayonet scabbard and frog there are no numbers anywere that I have checked the blade is maker marked RICH.ABR.HERDER.SOLINGEN . There are a couple of intresting things that I have noticed there would appear to be a piece of red felt in the slot were the bayonet attaches to the rifle ? And there is a piece of leather to gaurd the pommel from striking the scabbard, This is a small bayonet compared to my K98 regular issued one,The frog would also appear to be to large is there any way to tell which branch of the service this bayonet would have been issued to any and all comments are welcome.

The short bayo is for NCO and Officer's the long is for enlisted personnel, private purchase item.

I can't say that I've ever seen one with the red cloth in the bayonet lug, but it looks like it belongs there! Interesting! Beautiful Herder! Great pick up! William

Thanks William caught my eye right away when I seen it pulled it from the scabbard and recognized the makers name right away think I got an ok deal at $80.00 CDN thanks for looking gents.

Thanks william and Eric thanks for the thread that explains alot about the bayonet and its history I do wonder what the reasoning was behind the felt thoe will have do a little research.
