Re: Like 84/98 Bayonet but strange
Kevin
Looks like a perfectly standard S84-98 to me.
It appears to have been sharpened.
Too short - has someone messed with the blade tip ?
The "148" is some sort of control number applied during the manufacturing process.
The frog is non-standard.
Hope this helps a little.
Regards
Richie

Re: Like 84/98 Bayonet but strange
Hi Richie
Thanks a lot for your valuable information.
Ya!Maybe someone messed with the tip before and restored the blade but I am not sure either.
Do you think it's a good idea to get another original or repro grips to fix it or just leave it alone?thanks
Cheers

Re: Like 84/98 Bayonet but strange
Hi Kevin , incidentally , the code fnj was designated to the maker Coppell GMBH . I would say if you can get hold of some original grips it would look much better

Re: Like 84/98 Bayonet but strange
Kevin
Grips ?
My knowledge is not that specialised I'm afraid.
Have you seen this site - lots of photos of S84-98s - you might be able to form some sort of judgement yourself.
k98 bayonets data and registry
Grips were often replaced when bayonets were repaired or refurbished.
Good hunting !

Re: Like 84/98 Bayonet but strange
Hello the grips should be brown colored plastic, the german frog was cut down and attached on remains of origin frog stud, to realise a haenger. Its certainly a postwar upgrade.best regards,Andy

Hi Andy
Thanks a lot for your professional inspiration.I really appreciate it.But I wounder would this "postwar upgrade" lower its value or make it become valuable "rare" one?thank again.
