German Army private purchase bayonet worn for walking out. Made by Eickhorn as indicated on the stamp.
Its an "Original Eickhorn" stamped dress or 'walking out' bayonet.
Yes, original Eickhorn dress bayonet!
An original Eickhorn parade bayonet of the 1930's.
Thank you all very much. The word Original threw me, thought it might be post war.
It looks far better in life than in the photos..not my thing, but it was there as I was. I didn't see the first letters of the maker..thought it said Khorn!!! LOL

Eickhorn ('acorn') is a very well known German knife maker. The brand still exist and as you can see, they still use the rat logo (well, its a squirrel, but they are just rats with better PR!) and the 'original' bit.

Presumably, the 'Original' stamping was to inspire confidence in the product and convey to the buying public, that this was the real (Eickhorn) deal thus a quality product.
Nice KS98 (Dress walking out) bayonet as stated Eickhorn was the maker there was a leather buffer pad at the end of the blade to cushion them in the scabbard. Nice original piece made from 30's to up to 40's in WW2. Your logo stamp can tell the years of make I forget which Eickhorn squirrell is what. Some consider Karl Eickhorn the best edge weapon producer. timothy
