Hi, folks! Found another matching one to add to the collection.

Serial numbered "2685 d" and "42 crs" on both the scabbard and the blade for Paul Weyersberg, Solingen. Matching Waffenamt of "WaA 519" clearly stamped on both the bayonet and the scabbard. Very nice dark brown/black bakelite grip panels with unmolested hardware. The blade still retains most of its factory bluing. Quite a bit of pitting on the scabbard, but it's only surface rust and didn't cause any real damage to the metal. Fitted with a nice unmarked black leather frog. If this bayonet ever saw any action, it certainly managed to escape mostly unscathed.

Nothing extraordinary, but I'm pleased with it.

    Thanks for having a look!

Yes it's a nice one with little sign of service wear. The rust pitting is probably as a result of storage metal on metal.

Looks like proper S84/98 bayonet, in decent not extra used condition, the scabbard has got some surface rust, but oiling will stop this.

Looks like a real nice one. Breakfree CLP may help remove rust. Hoping to find one myself.

    Hello,

an S84/98 (a bayonet 98k never existed) from mid-war production.

I think on the hilt and scabbard there is more patina than bluing.

    Greetings

Thanks for having a look, Anderson. Always good to get your opinion on edged weapons.

Thanks, Andy! Sage advice - I, too, put a thin coat of oil on any metal relics that have developed this patina.

Exactly what I use! CLP is great stuff - I always have plenty handy since shooting is another hobby of mine.

    Thanks, gents!
