Yes it's a nice one with little sign of service wear. The rust pitting is probably as a result of storage metal on metal.

Looks like proper S84/98 bayonet, in decent not extra used condition, the scabbard has got some surface rust, but oiling will stop this.

Looks like a real nice one. Breakfree CLP may help remove rust. Hoping to find one myself.

Hello,
an S84/98 (a bayonet 98k never existed) from mid-war production.
I think on the hilt and scabbard there is more patina than bluing.

Thanks, Andy! Sage advice - I, too, put a thin coat of oil on any metal relics that have developed this patina.

Exactly what I use! CLP is great stuff - I always have plenty handy since shooting is another hobby of mine.
