Are these three frogs on these bayonets reproductions?
Hello all,
I have these on hold right now but something seems out of place. First, these are all combat frogs on dress bayonets and second, they all look virtually identical. Can anyone with a little more experience please confirm one way or the other if everything here is authentic?
To my eyes, they look like good, late war, combat frogs. I understand why you would be suspicious with all three of them being so similar, but they look OK to me, just on the wrong bayonets. Just for safeties sake, wait for a second opinion, there may be some better reproductions I am unaware of. If I found them one at a time somewhere, I wouldn't give them a second thought.
William contact me ASAP once you have obtained the info needed..as I realize the images can not be copied and uploaded. I will delete this thread for the reason those links provided will be removed by the host site. Thankyou Regards Larry

Print screen key on you PC. Save pic and then crop in Paint.
Simples.
The frogs appear OK. But really you want the patent leather version for a parade bayonet and not a post 43 combat one with RB number.

Agree these are combat frogs so called mounted type for s84/98 not KS98 these are not proper on a KS 98 but are often found married up with them. timothy
I'm in agreement that all three appear to be period, with the first example having white thread, and the misshaped rivet head the most interesting part, as a curiosity (manufacturing mistakes did happen). Next would be the middle one with the relatively scarce "pebble grain" tie strap (like the leather seen with some pistol holsters), although I suspect that some shoe polish at some point might have darkened the thread? With the last also possibly a candidate for some touching up at some point as even the washers now seem to be black. That said, I've seen worse. Best regards, Fred
