Help Identifying Branch of Service and Medal Bars
Hello, I hope you all are well. I am helping a friend to colourise an image of hi grandfather, so that he can gift it to his father for his birthday. We are having some trouble working out which medal bars he has as our knowledge on the topic is rather limited. We do know it is around the time of the Second World War. Can anyone work out which ones they are? Also Which unit he may have been in? Many thanks for all your help!

Hi; his cap bears a royal airforce eagle. Not able to help you much with medal bar, sorry.

Hi Jasper,
I will try to help you with the identification of the ribbons of this Italian airman, although with the black and white photo it is very difficult, however working on the following clues:
-possible period of the photo (uniform and badge pattern)
-possible age of the person
- sequence of light and dark parts of the ribbon
-stars for years campaign duration on the ribbon
in my opinion the ribbons could represent these medals:
To the right
Italian-Austrian War Commemorative Medal 1915-1918
Medaglia commemorativa della guerra italo-austriaca 1915-1918 - Wikipedia
To the left
Commemorative Medal of the Campaigns of Libya (lasted until the early 30s)

Roberto
