Thanks for the input! Any idea as to why the manfacturer's mark seems to be placed upside down? All online references of Stahlblume bayonets I'm finding show the angel facing upward (toward the point).

Fairly worn, I wouldn't do anything to it. Would probably have been made in 1916 or 1917. These Stahlblume 98/05 are quite interesting. You might like to search the archive, member Dok has started a few threads. And yes the mark is usually seen the other way round.

Thanks, Anderson. Did as you suggested. Somewhat helpful - glad it's been covered before. I went over to worldofbayonets and couldn't find anything on the pecuiliar stamp placement. I must have a unique find; perhaps the result of the urgent demands of 1916/17.
