Hello,
My latest pickup is this Dog Tag of a Major General (and later Lt. General), i took the Research plenty far (using Google translator and copy paste for all of it) but i still have some questions, maybe someone here can answer them????
The tag reads:
歩 旅 六 = 6th Infantry Brigade
少将 小見山恭造 = Major General Kyozo Komiyama
His military career:
-March 30, 1903 Graduated from the Military Academy (17th grade)
-April 21, 1903 Second Lieutenant of the Army Infantry
-December 12, 1909 Entered the Army War College
-November 27, 1914 Graduated from Army War College (26th class)
-March 6, 1930 Army Infantry Colonel, Fukuyama Regiment Commander
-January 9, 1932 Commander of the 49th Infantry Regiment
-August 1, 1934 Army Major General Commander of the 6th Infantry Brigade
-March 1, 1937 Attached to the 8th Division Headquarters
-November 1, 1937 Army lieutenant general
-November 28, 1937 Reserve
-July 3, 1942 Im Army Chief of Staff First Class High Official (Secretary of Semarang Province)
His profile on Juntuanwang notes also something November 1st at the rank of Vice Admiral (the Navy equivalent to the army rank of Lt. General) is that a Google translation mistake or did he join the Navy???? And if so when was that possibly in 1937????
His picture also looks like he is wearing a Navy uniform so it might fit… Also if thats the case, why is his rank in 1942 again army chief of Staff in semrang province (Indonesia) ????
Maybe somebody knows… I have no clue how to take this further at this point… any help appreciated… I’ll include all links I used to get this far here:

Translation error. 少将 is the same rank in the IJN and IJA, which is why the ranks are usually preceded by 陸軍 [army] or 海軍 [navy].
Uniform of IJA general officer. Here's the uniform of Major General Onodera Makoto for comparison; I've highlighted the area visible in the black & white photo:
