Good day gentleman.
Can I please ask for Your helpful opnions regarding this German Cross in Gold award document?? Original/fake?
Chcecked the recievers database of the this cross on the web and found out-
214. Infanterie Division:
Berg, Günther, 25.08.1944, Hauptmann, I./Gren.Rgt. 355
So the recieving date/unit and reciever are matching.
What do You think??
Thanks and Best regards,
Peter
Prelim DKiG citations did have facsimile signatures and the one shown above and the stamp do match examples shown in Forman's Award Citations Vol 1 but the stains leave me feeling uneasy.

I was about to chime in yesterday and say that Keitel stamp looks like others I have seen although I have precious little expertise on signatures (or facsimiles in this case).

Problem is that scanners and printers these days are good enough to produce top quality reproductions. If it wasn't stained it would be a lot harder to be sure one way or the other.
