Default Help with entries in a LSSAH Soldbuch

    Hi All,

I’ve recently acquired a soldbuch to SS-Rottenfuhrer Walter Laue serving with the artillery regiment of the Liebstandarte SS Adolf Hitler and after some research I believe he was killed (presumably in action) on 22nd November 1943

    This is his ‘volksbund’ entry:

    Details zur Person:

    Surname: Laue
    Forename: Walter
    Rank: Rottenführer
    Date of birth: 29.03.1922
    Place of birth: Benningsen
    Date of death/becoming missing: 22.11.1943
    Place of death/becoming missing: Wilschka/Shitomir.

Is there a casualty card which could offer more information?

Secondly, he had a spell in hospital during October 1941 but I can’t decipher the reason; can anyone help?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Russ

Had a quick look for a casualty card but no luck. I suspect if there is one it may be under a slightly different spelling of his name. Mistakes of this kind are not uncommon.

I don't think his casualty card exists. I have checked not using his name but using just his date of birth (and also with his birth place), his date of birth and date of death, just his date of death and also his date and place of death and nothing comes up. If it does exist then someone has probably transcribed the basic data incorrectly.

On page 3 I can make out the signatures of:

Heinrich Koisar who was KIA 26th February 1943
Helmuth Haak who was KIA 21st February 1943

    Thanks for that Hucks216

I really appreciate you confirming a couple of the signatures!

The soldbuch actually came with a fair amount of paperwork. I've downloaded some with signatures just in case there is any which are legible.

    Thanks again,

    Russ

The EK-2 entry might be Ludwig Kalischko but not definite about that.

The other two I can find no listing for - Müller is too common a name to tie down and the other looks like Sieroth but I can not find any mention of that surname.
