    Hi all,

I have recently bought a wehrpass to an SS-Sturmmann with the 10th SS Panzer Division "Frundsberg" but I'm struggling with the soldiers name.

I thought it may be Xaver Franz Kolm but can't be sure.

    Any help will be appreciated!

    Russ

    Hi Russ.

I would agree with Xaver Franz Kolm.

Sometimes the surname initial is written in a box on the top right corner on the front page too.

Interestingly his father is listed as Pflegevater (Foster Father).

    Kind regards,

    Will.

I can't read it either, but I didn't get any hits on Ancestry for anyone called Franz Xaver Koln. Nice WP, does he have any combat history?

I have looked under Xaver Franz Kolm now also with no hits.

Thank you for your replies and confirming what I thought.

I looked for the name 'Xaver Franz Kolm' on the 'Volksbund' website but no such luck this time

I have attached some photos and as you will see the letter in the upper corner box has been scratched out.

    Thanks again,

    Russ

Thank you for the extra photos Russ.

With no entry on the Volksbund, I wonder if he was wounded or taken prisoner, hence the lack of entries after 10.7.1944 (page 12). I say this because there was a brutal battle for Hill 112 in Normandy at that time.

No worries Russ, thank you for sharing such a great addition to your collection with us.

Are there any entries on pages 20, 21 or 34.

    Hi Willmore,

Yes there are entries on pages 20 and 21 but nothing on page 34. I've attached an image of those pages.

I've just read another interesting post on the forum regarding wehrpass from the 'Halbe hoard' which has made me curious if this wehrpass could be from that same hoard. My wehrpass has some slight water/moisture damage to the paper and slight rust damage to the rivets possibly consistent with long storage in a damp place.

    Kind regards,

It says with which weapons he was trained: rifle 98 k, MG 34 and 42, pistol 38, hand grenade, stealing hand grenade and gas mask 40. On page 21 it says that he has completed special training as a sick persons carrier.

It could also be read as "Volm".
