I noticed that he the the erkennungsmarke mob nummer, in red pen on page one is 263954, which puts him latterly into the 3rd Kompanie of Fallschirm-Pionier-Batl.2.
In turn we know that the 3rd Kompanie was used to form the Fallschirm-Pioner-Bataillon 4 during February 1944, and a new 3rd company was formed later in 1944.
Fallschirm-Pionier-Batl.2. was destroyed during the fighting in Brest in September, and reformed again in December 1944.
Others will opine on the Soldbuch itself further. A nice addition, pages missing is appropriate to late war Soldbucher and soldiers being security conscious.
Thank you for answer. I found data about:
Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 2
Feldpostnummern:
Einheit Aufstellung Wiederaufstellung
Pi.Btl.Stab L60030
1.Kompanie L61021
2.Kompanie L62010
3.Kompanie L60657 L63001
4. Kompanie L60048
Klonne L63275
Aufgestellt im Februar 1943 mit 4 Kompanien. Das Bataillon war der 2. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division unterstellt.
Bataillonskommandeure:
Major Siegfried Gerstner 16. Februar 1943 - 07. Januar 1944
Major Wildhagen Februar 1944 - März 1944
Major Siegfried Gerstner - 15. August 1944
Hauptmann Gasteyer Oktober 1944 - April 1945
You say that 3rd company after destoyed in Brest reformed in December. Here writes in Netherlands.
Do you know what hapends with 3rd company in Netherlands? Interesting I buy this lot from seller from Netherlands.
Owner was prewar worker in Brasil for Mercedes. After war again working in Brasil.
It is hard to make out the first digits but the Feldpost Number on the last stamp seems to fit with the Pi.Btl Stab as it ends in 030.
He started his service in Flak units and it looks like at around September/October 1944 he was transferred to the FJ.
