Major a.D.K. Lenders document group.

I will apologise in advance for this small, random document group of finds that I found a while back. Below are a Sonderausweis for Major Lenders in his role as Courier whilst visiting Stab of Luftgaukommando VI, Münster while in Brüssel in October 1940. Prior to the war Lenders had visited a street machinery event? in Munich in 1938. In 1936 Lenders had visited Canada and Quebec, where he had the green permission card to see the forests.

I think Lenders died in hospital during the war.

According to the Teilnehmerkarte, he was retired. It lists him as Major a.D. which stands for "ausser Dienst" as is the usual protocol for the title of a retired officer. In the U.S. we'd say "Major Steve Jones, US Army retired" or simply "ret."

I'd say possibly he was recalled back to duty based on the courier card.

Thank you Todd and Willmore for you comments and additions. I wonder what led to Karl's demise, I imagine he was a lover of the great outdoors and being in nature and yet circumstances placed him in a place far from cheerful.
