    I hope that some of you might find this one interesting. It's not remarkable and thus far I have not been able to ascertain his fate.

    Let me attempt to introduce you to Karl Cordt;
    Soldbuch from Grenadier Regiment 1055, 89th Infantry Division.

    Karl was born on 6th July 1925 in Hamburg, Wehrkreis X. His trade was an iron worker before the war came. As a result he was then on the lists of Wehrmeldeamt Hamburg 2. His religion was listed as Evangelical. He joined the Stamm Kompanie of Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 65 on 29th October 1943 at Delmenhorst.

    Among his issued equipment was; two rifles. Initially a Czech vz. 24, designated as the 24 (t) by the Wehrmacht, then later a K98 and cleaning kit Reinigungsgerät 34 as well two bayonets, a Czech one for the vz24 before being issued with the 84/98 for his K98. A spade and a Polish wz. 35 Radom pistol, designated P35 by the Germans.

    Page four of his Soldbuch cites his progress; from 1st Kompanie of Grenadier Ausbildungs Bataillon 65 he goes firstly to Grenadier Regiment 1023, which was based in Celle and was his route into the 89th Infanterie Division. Arriving at 1st Kompanie of Grenadier Regiment 1055.

    GR 1055 was destroyed during the battle for Normandy and then bebuilt only to be destroyed again In October 1944 in the Aachen area of Germany. From what I can see the last entry in the Soldbuch was on 4th June 1944. There is no indication he was killed and he doesn't feature among those missing.
