Wehrpaß third model with 56 pages / second model with 52 pages - original?

Hi guys,


I’ve bought this interesting and well known book: “the Wehrpaß and soldbuch of the wehrmacht”.

Still I’ve got some questions about it (my questions might already got answered before- since it’s not quite a new book).


On page 18 it said that the third type of Wehrpaß contains 54 pages “but there are copies of this version which have 56 pages instead of the correct 54”.

Well I checked all the ones I’ve got and I’ve got 2 of the third type which contains 56 pages.

These are not ᛋᛋ ones, not ones of highly decorated soldiers just simple ones.

Is this a mistake in the book?


Furthermore the book says (on page 67): “page 52 of the Wehrpaß (first type), respectively pages 52-54 of the second and third type, holds the general regulations regarding the Wehrpaß”.

Well I’ve got multiple Wehrpaß of the second type which only contains 52 pages.

Is that a problem regarding originality or is this also “a mistake” in the book?

Hi there.

I have just checked multiple versions of each of the three types of Wehrpaß in the collection and this is what I found.

1st type - The normal amount of pages seems to be 52, but one example has 54 pages, but this is a very early example where the soldier started his military service in 1933.

2nd type - All have 52 pages.

3rd type - All have 56 pages.

As for the rear pages, these were indeed used for all sorts of additional notations about the soldier.

A good book to get is 'Wehrpaß by Emilie Caldwell Stewart'. It is long out of print, but well worth grabbing a copy if you see one for sale.
