IR-229 was part of 101.leichte Infanterie-Division and this is a section of the Lage Ost map for the day he died, showing the division helping to form a bridgehead over the Dnieper River near Kremenchuk (Krementschug).
If you supply the name on first page then we can probably find a casualty card for him.

There are 6 other soldiers from III/Inf.Rgt 229 listed as being killed on the same day, one from Stab, two from 11.Kompanie, one from 12.Kompanie and two from 15.Kompanie - the last 5 all killed assaulting Höhe 82, south of Gawi although transcription on Ancestry might be hiding more.
