Default Wehrpass to Oberfeldwebel Willy Pöllmann. Need help with some handwriting

    Hi all,

Picked up a Wehrpass to the above man in Berlin. Lots of paperwork included that was (thankfully) typed, and his death cards.

Oberfeldwebel Willy Pöllmann, born October 3, 1913 in Reuth. He had an incredible career that started in 1934. I've attempted to decipher his service with mixed results and I've detailed this below. Hoping someone can fill the gaps. I'll post more pages later if that's OK
He died of dysentery in a Barwenko feldlazarett on July 30, 1943.
He is buried in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

    Campaign in Poland
    Fight in fanaszow?
    fight in Laburie?
    Fanaszow? again
    Campaign in Lemberg / Fanaszow
Mission involving troops in Poland Stab III IR 63
March to Belgium and the North
    France
    March to the Somme
    Training for bush fighting
    Mention of the Somme again
Pursuit battles from the Somme to the Seine
    Campaign on the Seine
    Mention of the Seine again
    Chase to the Loire
    Crossing the Loire
    Pursuit on the Loire
Occupying troops in France with IR 63

The list continues with Russian campaigns and these are printed and pasted in. Does this mean he was involved in all of these battles?

I can not translate the word used for his cause of death although it was at the Hauptverbandplatz (H.V.Pl) in Barwenkowo where he was being treated.

I expect the typed section is mentioning the movements of either kompanie or bataillon he was in while fighting in Russia.

He was vaccinated against typhus and paratyphus on 6,13,20 August 1939. Vaccinated against smallpox on 25 October 1939. Not sure what was done on 6 August 1940.

Do post the rest of the Wehrpaß, it will be interesting to see.

    Outstanding work. Thanks Ben.

I'll certainly put more up. There are some awards I'm familiar with as I collect those, and some others I can't read. I didn't want to dump the entire wehrpass in one go. I like to try and interpret (badly!) first to figure out the script.

    Thanks again,

    Dave

I think I've just figured out his orders and badges. I hope I'm correct. If I am, that's an impressive array of awards.

Is the first entry Dienstauszeichnung IV klasse?
Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. März 1938
    Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2.Klasse mit Schwertern
    Winterschlacht im Osten
Is the last entry Panzerkampfabzeichen? can't read what comes after the hyphen.

    Hi there.

Your Wehrpaß looks very interesting, thanks for posting.

The word after panzerkampfabzeichen could be a grade, bronze maybe.

    Kind regards,

    Will.

Thanks Will. I usually buy these online and mostly not many entries in them but this is now the most interesting one I have. Bought in Trodelmarkt in Berlin. I think I'll be back!

I'm not sure about the script either Willmore, as Pöllmann would have been awarded the bronze version as per Panzergrenadiere rather than in Silver as for Panzertrüppen. The text doesn't appear to be either and I did wonder whethe pr the award was instigated after him being confined, but the dates don't tally for that either. A great Wehrpaß to find at the market, good hunting!

    Thanks for those contributions lads

    More info on earned awards.

Happy to be corrected, but is the first entry here for free-swimming? I'm not aware of an award badge for that.

Reich Sportabzeichen and first class Wehrmacht driving licence.

    His photo shows a schützenschnur.

You are right about the awards.

Freischwimmer (free swimmer) was a certificate, which required 15 minutes of swimming in deep water plus a jump into the water from a height of 1 metre.

At the bottom is the next of kin, which was his mother and she was called Margarette.
