Hi David thank you for the better photos to compare. I dont know if it is shadows or just different wear but the rope on photo 13 look different to me. on photo 11 the eagles look different one looks wider and the wing on the left looks different. It could be shadows or wear but you know buckles better then I do. You are the man when it comes to buckles. Gary

I am going around in circles on this one !
Attached is another photo merge image of the reverses.
They do remarkably the same buckle in my eyes.

David
Come on Guido - your turn now !

Thankyou all for your comments!
David,
yes, I agree! I think not exactly the same buckle, but two slightly different variants produced by the same maker.
I have made some better images, so you will be able to make out some further details.
At first I had the same thoughts about the sharp prongs. They look indeed not original to the buckle and this was substanciated by the crude way they produced the lower pin head.
But I know a forum member here, wich has exactly the same buckle with exactly the same very sharp claws. He introduced the buckle in another forum, but I will ask him to post it also here.
Some differences between these variants:
David, do you mean these lines on the ears?
Have you noticed this scratch, wich is looking like a crack?
Maybe this was caused through a defective female die?
Best regards,
Guido
