Unfortunately, I concur with my colleagues that this buckle is a fake. If you can locate a genuine example to study, you will notice immediately that this piece lacks the quality and appropriate markings.

You only need one look... GWL = Gebrüder Wegerhoff Lüdenscheid- they never produced SS-buckles.
