The dagger is in fantastic shape and you have a lot of personal info on the second owner. You may be able to get more - like his service record through the national archives
Hey Dave, he knew my Grandfather. I have a whole file on the 82nd and a folder of data on Elmer’s life and service. His wife just died in December of 2020. I visit his grave site every Memorial weekend and salute him for his service and honor the piece of history he brought home.by Dave H

That's a great dagger, Kirk and a great history to go with it.
As I was reading this, I had the thought that I went to school with some
Lundgrens and wouldn't it be cool if they were related. Then it dawned
on me, given where we live, just about everyone around here is related
to a Lundgren in some way or other.

Thank you for showing this again. A great dagger with even greater provenance. Do you know the story of how he got it ? That box that he made to ship it back home screams history!
