better images are needed. close ups of grip, cross guards, motto, blade etc. to better determine what this is all about.
I would agree with a Post war combination but as Rich has requested greater photos may be able to prove that.

To me, the proportions of the grip seem incorrect and the upper scabbard fitting as well.
No need for better pics, bad to the bone.
This type of "Patina" is the common one used to alter new stuff.
My advice: Avoid any dagger showing this kind of patina, better skip 1 to many then buying a fake!

Lol at barbecue patina yes it looks like coal colour. Then yes I agree that gets commonly used to make things look aged even when they are not trying to be fakes but just trying to make something look old style
