Hello Akseli welcome to the forum
The dagger is in very bad condtion and all of it is parts put together ...none of it is original to the dagger.
The grip has beem reworked as well.
Pitting is horrible on the blade and has been zealously over cleaned.
Not much value.
Sorry for the bad news ..but you came to the right place.
There is a lot to read and study from in this forum on SS daggers and also throughout this whole website with any other interests you may have.
Enjoy your stay with us

Even so it's from your Dad, something to cherish and pass on to your sons or daughters if you have them. Back many years ago many people would do that to daggers, for 1 of 2 reasons.
1. to conceal it's originality (reproduction vs original)
2. thinking they were helping the dagger to appear to be in better condition.
Enjoy it for what it is and represents!
