I added this Early SS Dagger by Hammesfahr. Nickel silver introductory Model 33 with great grip. SS Runes and Adler are in great shape. The vertical hanger is in really great condition with Assmann DRGM marked clip. Leather hanger is stamped SS/48/34 RZM. Early leather belt loop D ring hanger is also on this one but is unmarked.

The blade has a great etched motto and some good cross graining present. Motto has good even darkening in it and the maker mark is nice and dark as well. Some graying towards the blade tip. Overall I really like this one. Anodized blued scabbard has a great look to it with some lacquer still remaining. Ball tip on scabbard is slightly indented but I can live with it as it is barely hit. Hope you enjoy the pics. These dress daggers are fun to photograph. Been 3 years since I bought a dagger so this felt good today to get back to my passion.

Thanks Larry! Appreciate the review and nod. I love dagger porn too. It took me a good 2-3 hours today to photograph this and the SA by Muller and Schmidt. They are fun to look at and study all the details for sure. I had to pay a good sum for this one but it was worth the money. In the hobby sometimes you get what you pay for.

It's not often that I see a Hammesfahr in this condition. Most have large flakes or chunks out of the grip.

You may want to reconsider removing the hanger to clean off the verdigris on the leather and upper scabbard fitting... it will discolor and pit the nickel and may already have done some damage. The tannins in the leather are reacting to the copper in the nickel. I periodically inspect the SS daggers I display with vertical hangers to make sure the verdigris does not appear and wipe off if necessary. The daggers not on display are stored with the hangers removed.

You must have been in my head last night blade brother, Funny as about bedtime I remember seeing that verdigris build up when taking pictures. I got up and took it off. I also wanted to take some pictures of the guards and scabbard throat. It also gave me the chance to snap a shot of the RZM SS/48/34 early marked hanger. I very carefully removed the hanger to wipe the guards and scabbard throat down. Here are some photos which I added above as well. Thanks for validating and confirming this for me. I may display it with hanger off as pictured below. Either that or carefully removed hanger every 6-12 months to insure build up of verdigris is not building up again.

The leather on the hanger looks to be in good shape so I wouldn't worry about damaging it by periodically removing and replacing it. One word of caution though... any kind of leather conditioner (for example Lexol) applied to the hanger will only exacerbate the verdigris problem.

All my years I have always just left the leather be and applied no conditioner to it.

That 1934 marked hanger is a prize in itself and compliments that SS dagger in its production year.
For me it is a complete ensemble !
