Hello Kiwi..have you tried " This " forums internal search engine ? It is indisputable more so than what you can find on other open search engines outside this website ...because this kind of content is all Here ! . I would encourage a deeper study which will only strengthen your knowledge.
We dont mind to help out here as that is why we are here.
The dagger shown is a late production period Type I chain and not a Type II
Chained SS Study of the 4 Chain types
So if thats what the dealer told you that info is wrong.
It is deemed a late production period Type C having Nickel plating over a steel base.
You should give a read through the link I posted above and will explain further.
Overall I see no glaring issues with this dagger as it appears all correct in every detail expected to be seen on a Type I / Type C
Other comments and opinions welcome.

Do you think it is the shape of the nasal cavity within the skulls? The shape of the jaw too?

The center mount on the scabbard is also bad, and as you have surmised it's a combination of small details that includes the nasal openings etc. etc. The new images reinforcing my impression of a so-called "East Bloc" fake (not all are equal) which have been known to cause problems even for some supposed specialists (a general comment with no specific reference to this forum). Hmm the maxilla (portion above the front teeth and below the nasal cavity) and zygomatic bone (corners of bone below the eyes) also look to be unequal across the three the more I look at them. Thank you for mentioning this (on the other forum too) and @Larry C thank you too for providing me with that link and your opinion. I would just like to wait for a few more to confirm before I send an email back to the dealer on what I will do
