EF M40 SS Helmet

Just got this one off of eBay. It is a very late made M40 SS helmet. I believe its a size EF62 but you can't really see the second number. Lot number I believe to be 31499 but could be 37***. The ET style decal is probably around 90%. All paint is in good shape except for some deep scratches and a slight dent in the dome. It has a 1942 dated liner band with a complete but brittle liner. The string is missing and one of the finger tips is torn. The chinstrap was over the brim for a long while as you can see the dust mark across the front but is now broken and brittle but all there. I note in the box that I wasn't expecting tells its "story"

Looks black to me......did the SS man flak batteries at airfields?

It's the usual green color. We have snow on the ground an the bright glare through my windows was affecting the colors in the picture

Get used to it. It happens to us all. That piece of paper proves nothing, it's a clean piece of paper with writing on it - and anyone could have made that up. Don't treat it as cast-iron provenance, because it isn't.

As no one has given his opinion on the decal itself so far, I give it a try to start this discussion, although I not a specialist...Shouldn't the runes have sharper edges pointing upwards on an EF M40 helmet ?

I think most of us commented on the other forums and didn't see the urgent need to say the same things here. A nice and RARE example.
