Re: Fake SS Helmet?
Don't always rely on the position of the decals. You will come across helmets with decals that are high, low, and off center to the left or right. These were applied by hand and it could be a touchy process. Luftwaffe decals tend to show a lot of application errors, especially in the arms of the swastika. The photos you provide are very skewed and at high angles, which is typical for sellers who are trying to hide that the decals are fake. But these are very obvious fakes. It baffles me that the sellers didnt even attempt to age the decals at all. This may be a period repaint M40, or it could be a messed with helmet. The photos are not good at all and the lighting is poor. The liner is junk and the strap probably is too.

Re: Fake SS Helmet?
Popcorn, analytics are sort of lost on this one, its a one look remedial fake from 50 yards with known reproduction decals, bad paint, bad liner and postwar linerband. It's like breaking down a fake crayon drawing of the Mona Lisa and analyzing why it's fake so to speak. Best put in the time into study, it's time better spent and read a couple of the pinned threads in this section.
